50th Winternationals
2010 season opens for Plueger Racing with a record 5.70 E.T. run with Leah Pruett-LeDuc behind the wheel at the Kragen O’Reilly 50th Winternationals in Pomona, CA. The Plueger & Gyger Mach 1 Mustang was one of eight invited nitro nostalgia Funny Cars at the 50th Winternationals. The eight cars were invited to run exhibition passes to celebrate the 50th running of the Winternationals.
On Saturday Leah wheeled the Mustang to a clean 5.97 pass while many of the other vintage Funnies experienced difficulties. On Sunday (due to attrition) Steve Plueger was able to run the Plymouth Arrow LA Hooker with last minute driver James Day plus the Plueger & Gyger Mustang. The team made impressive runs both days including the record breaking pass by Leah making her the fastest and quickest driver in nitro nostalgia Funny Cars.
With a solid performance under their belts the team headed to Phoenix for the eight car qualified show at the Arizona Nationals. Unfortunately, the cars did not compete due to poor track conditions and weather. Plueger Racing has returned to La Mirada, CA and prep starts for the upcoming March Meet in which Leah will shoe the Plueger & Gyger Mustang.
